Titanic Deckchair Headrest Fragment

RMS Titanic, 1912, White Star Heritage Collection

A damaged chunk of headrest from a Titanic deckchair.

Showing signs of exposure to seawater and sunlight, this fragment of a Titanic deckchair still proudly displays a carved star that was prominent on all deckchairs. To its right is an impression of where the original brass name tag holder was once attached.

This headrest was retrieved from the ocean by the crew of the Cable Ship Minia 1, sent to recover bodies from the ocean after the Titanic’s sinking.
