RMS Titanic Paint Fragment

RMS Titanic, 1911 (recovered 1998), Tom Rudderham Collection

This is understood to be the only surviving fragment of paint from the Titanic.

This fragment comes from a bulkhead of the D Deck First & Second Class Galley, and was deposited from the “Big Piece” shortly after a public display at Tropicana Casino and resort in Atlantic City, on September 8th, 1999. Although heavily broken down by rusticle growth, a thick layer of emulsion paint and primer still clings to the fragment.
